When Calm Allison and sisters Pearl Barrett first formulated the notion for the Trim Healthy Mama Plan, they were both desperate for a new alternative to their food woes. After subjecting herself to an extreme raw foods diet while Barrett needed to slim down and fall about two sizes from her framework, Allison was underweight and bloated.
“We had been on all of the hard diets, all the fad diets, we’d tried everything and in the end our health was definitely lacking. We were merely so done,” says Barrett. The sisters began hunting for an option that was new — and after exhaustive research, they eventually landed on something that worked. “As soon as we discovered a rational and simple strategy we were like, ‘Yee-haw, granny!’ We needed to tell the world,” Allison recalls.
The Basics of the Trim Healthy Mama Plan
If you have fallen prey to diets counseling you to shun fat, carbs or sugar thoroughly, you will be satisfied to understand that on the Trim Healthy Mama Plan, no food groups are prohibited. The concept is rather straightforward. You are enabled to eat protein, fat, carbs and veggies — as long as you avoid eating fat and carbs in the exact same meal. “When you are going to do wholesome carbs, pull back the fats,” Barrett says, “Or when you’re going to do healthy fats, pull back the carbs. The sisters experimented on themselves and found that their approach helped Barrett lose her unwanted pounds — while giving Allison a brand new way of healthful eating that was sustainable and nutritious. In 2012, they self-published the first 640-page Trim Healthy Mama publication. Despite zero dollars spent on advertisements, word spread — and the book became a New York Times bestseller.
The most recent versions of the Trim Healthy Mama Strategy their book along with the Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook go on sale. “Individuals who loved a great read loved our first book, but other folks were like, ‘This novel is overly long — you speak too much!’ In this new book we’re giving them the fundamentals,” Allison says.
Finding Liberty in Food
The main thing to learn about the Trim Healthy Mama Plan is that it is not a ‘get slim quick’ alternative. “We assure people they may lose no weight in the very first month!” Allison says.
Element of the reason the diet works might just be the tender approach it takes to eating. “My advice is give yourself tons of elegance.
The occasional indulgence encourages, and say the strategy is doable whether you’re food purist and a home chef, as Allison describes herself, or for people who sometimes succumb to the lure of the drive-through window, like Barrett. While the book is not packaged with scientific studies backing the diet’s effectiveness, their mission is clear: smart, sustainable food options, aka everything in moderation. “We are about celebrating food. We just do it in ways that’s sort to our hips,” Barrett says.
They say that the strategy isn’t meant just for moms though both girls are really moms. “This is a strategy for individuals who stink at diets,” Allison says.
